Historic Main Street is located just a short drive across the neighboring Blanchette Memorial Bridge. It is one of the favorite attractions for our guests and includes a wide variety of dining and shopping opportunities. This area of St. Charles is best known for its history as a busy French merchant town with cobblestone streets, the Old Grist Mill, Missouri’s First State Capital building, and the Lewis & Clark Boat House Museum highlighting the launch of the Westward Expansion. The Historic Main Street area has maintained the original French charm and history as it first had, for over 200 years.
It is a well-visited area year-round. The most visited time is through the Holiday Season. Visitors from across the region come to the area with their families to experience the Christmas Traditions Festival. It truly gets you in the holiday spirit with Victorian carolers, Santa’s that represent a variety of cultures, and of course, holiday decorations to make your shopping experience merry and bright.
